"The overwhelming majority in the Bundestag clearly says that Georgia will one day become a member of the European Union," said the speaker on foreign policy of the Christian Democratic Union faction in the Bundestag, Jurgen Hardt, after a meeting with representatives of the Georgian delegation.

As Jurgen Hardt mentioned, after the events that took place in February this year, there is a sharp debate in Germany about who should be our partner in the European Union in the future.

"All democratic parties in the German Bundestag are in favor of Georgia's accession to the European Union. Now the main question is when the candidate will have a formal status to open negotiating chapters and so on. I would prefer Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine to be together in this process. All the actions of Georgia and Georgian politicians, representatives of business and civil society have brought them closer to the European Union, simplifying the process of completing chapters," said Jurgen Hardt.
