Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili denied information about the import of sanctioned Russian oil to Georgia.

«It is important to clarify, I want to emphasize and note with all responsibility that Georgia does not buy sanctioned oil. Georgia adheres to the sanctions with maximum responsibility, in this regard, there are no comments on the country. Oil purchased specifically by these companies is not under sanctions. The same oil is bought by many European countries and many other countries», said Levan Davitashvili.

According to the Minister, the Georgian customs structures are actively working with the relevant authorities of the partner countries on the issue of the use of the sanctions mechanism.

Recall, Levan Khabeishvili, a member of the United National Movement, said earlier that a number of Georgian companies that are seen in close ties with the current government are importing Russian sanctioned oil into the country. At a special briefing, Khabeishvili mentioned Wissol Group, Aragvi Impex and Lukoil. In addition, the oppositionist said that there is information about similar activities by another 10 companies.
