The Central Election Commission of Georgia will install new voting booths for the October 2 elections. This was reported to journalists by the deputy chairman of the CEC Georgy Sioridze.
According to him, the new cabins were tested on simulated elections. They fully ensure maximum secrecy of voting and exclude the possibility of a so-called "carousel": they minimize the facts of placing ballots or taking them out of the polling station.
At this stage, new booths will appear at about 800 polling stations in Tbilisi.
"The front wall of the remodeled cabins is shortened, the so—called protective barrier - shield is installed on it. We tested these booths in simulated elections, and there was not a single case that a person standing in front of the booth saw who the voter in the booth voted for," Sioridze said.
There are four days left before the elections in Georgia. The elections will be held on Saturday, October 2. Residents of 64 cities and districts will choose mayors and deputies of local advisory bodies – sakrebulo.
