At least four people were killed during protests outside the US Congress building in Washington. This was announced by the head of the metropolitan Police.

On Wednesday, supporters of incumbent President Donald Trump, who had gathered in the capital for a demonstration in his support, stormed the Congress, interrupting a meeting that was supposed to approve the results of the last election.

Protesters broke into the Capitol. Law enforcement officers initially failed to contain the flow of people. Inside the Congress, there were several skirmishes between law enforcement officers and protesters. Police guarding the Congress fired tear gas and firearms.

Meanwhile, it became known that the House of Representatives of the US Congress, following the Senate, rejected a protest the approval of the results of voting in the presidential election in Arizona. The protest was supported by 121 Republicans, against 303 Congressmen, of whom 83 were Republicans. Meanwhile, Democrats from the House Judiciary Committee after the events in Washington called on Vice President Michael Pence to take measures aimed at removing Donald Trump, accused of inciting riots, from the post of head of state.

Joe Biden, who is just two weeks away from his inauguration, said American democracy has come under "unprecedented attack."

Joe Biden, President-elect of the United States: "The President's Words matter. It does not matter how good or bad this president is. At best, the president's words can be inspiring. At worst, they can incite."_

Acting US President Donald Trump, amid protests in Washington and the seizure of the Capitol building, recorded a video message in which he stressed that he understands the feelings of the protesters, but called on supporters to disperse.

Donald trump, the President of the United States: "I know about your pain. I know you're in pain. We had an election that was stolen from us. It was a convincing election, and everyone knows it, especially the other side. But you must go home now. We must have peace."

The mayor of the metropolitan District of Columbia on Wednesday evening decided to extend the emergency regime for 15 days until January 21.
