Since December 21, in order to improve road safety, 19 new speed control sections with special radars have been installed on highways in Adjara, Kakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Tbilisi. This is reported by the public security management Center "112".

To control the speed of transport radars in Tbilisi will be on the following segments:

- from the intersection of monk Gabriel Salosi and Shalva Dolidze streets to No. -40 monk Gabriel Salosi street and back. The speed limit is 40 km/h.

- from the intersection of Saingilo and Gumbri streets to the intersection of Saingilo and Martkopi streets and back. The speed limit is 40 km/h.

- from the intersection of Niabi and Abuli streets to the intersection of Niabi and Saingilo streets and back. The speed limit is 40 km/h.

- from the intersection Of tsarina Ketevan Avenue and V. Chachava street to the intersection of Tsarina Ketevan Avenue and T. Abuseridze street and back. The speed limit is 50 km/h.

A full list of land plots in the regions of Georgia can be found on the Center's Facebook page.

The center explains that throughout Georgia, the speed control system is used on a section with a total length of 1,152 km.

Since July 1, 2017, Georgia has tightened the punishment for violating traffic rules. Each driver is awarded 100 points annually, which are reduced as violations are committed. If the limit is reached, the driver loses his license. The points reduction system does not apply to video penalties.

Since November 2017, "smart cameras" have been used in Georgia, which can detect the offender automatically and issue a fine. The cameras are linked to video analysis programs located in the joint operations Center of the Ministry of internal Affairs.

It was also decided to install sectional radars on the roads. The current radars were not as effective, as motorists, approaching them, slowed down, and then picked it up again. Sectional radars monitor the speed of the car on the entire road section.
