According to forecasts, in 2020 it is planned to collect 50 thousand tons of hazelnut crop, and the projected export revenue is about $ 100 million.
More than 30 companies are involved in the processing of hazelnuts.
The Ministry of Agriculture notes that since 2016, as a result of the spread of marble bugs and fungal diseases, the production of hazelnuts and its exports have begun to decline, and in 2018 they reached a minimum of 17 thousand tons. The government's active and purposeful work on pest control has helped to ensure a high-quality and abundant harvest in 2020.
