In the next few days, a new package of assistance to the tourism business will be presented at a meeting of the government of Georgia, which provides for co-financing of interest on loans from the state for another six months. This was stated by Prime Minister George Gakharia in the resort village of Chakvi, where the ruling party presented candidates for majority deputies Kobuleti Zaal Mikeladze and candidate for majority deputies of the Supreme Council of Adjara from Kobuleti Tsotne Ananidze.

Gakharia noted that the new package of assistance will affect the entire tourism business, primarily hotels, which have a turnover of up to 20 million ($6.6 million). According to the Prime Minister, an individual approach will also be chosen to those people who rent rooms on the principle of a family-type hotel.

The Prime Minister promised that the state will help all people in the tourism business to postpone loans until the beginning of the next season.

Gakharia noted that during his trip to Batumi, he had the impression that the citizens of Georgia had forgotten about the pandemic. He stressed that all recommendations of epidemiologists should be followed so that the next tourist season will be better.

Gakharia also noted that in addition to tourism, Kobuleti is also developing well in agriculture. He promised that the government of Georgia will not leave farmers until they get back on their feet: "there should be no uncultivated land left in Georgia," he said.

The Prime Minister thanked Adjara Prime Minister Tornike Rizhvadze for the fact that this year 1.5 thousand hectares of land in the region were cultivated with the help of the government. The government will also help farmers export citrus fruits. Last year, 30 thousand tons of citrus were exported, and this year the harvest will be even better, Gakharia said.
