The state intends to buy part of the area from construction companies, which, according to the Prime Minister, is insurance for unfinished objects.

The government of Georgia has announced a competition for developers to help them cope with the pandemic by selling part of their built area to the state, according to the website of the real estate Agency. Any developer can participate in the competition. To do this, they must fill out an application on the Agency's website and specify how many apartments they sell and what price they want, while in Tbilisi the price per square meter should not exceed 1.7 thousand lari, in Batumi – 1.53 thousand lari , in Kutaisi – 1, 445 thousand, in Rustavi – 1.36 thousand, in Zugdidi – 1.326 thousand, and in other districts – 1.36 thousand.

According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, the state allocated 100 million lari for the purchase of apartments.

"We are announcing a grant auction for a total amount of 100 million lari, which means that we are fully insuring unfinished construction in the country," Gakharia said.

According to the Minister of economy and sustainable development of Georgia Natia Turnava, the state will buy 30% of the area from developers.

"Developers will have a guarantee that if they want 30% of the area will be purchased by the state, which means that the risk for them will be minimal and, most importantly, the risk will be minimal for those who are waiting for the completion of their apartments," Turnava said.

Earlier, the state has already announced its intention to subsidize mortgage loans to prevent mass unfinished construction.

According to data from the state Statistics service, 4,169 construction permits were issued in the first six months of 2020, and this figure fell by 16.5% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, most of the permits were issued for the construction of multifunctional residential complexes.
