Conscripts can be banned from repeated deferral from conscription
The defense and security Committee supported amendments to the Law "on military obligations and military service". The law gives the chance to students of vocational educational institutions in some cases to postpone the military service.
As Chairman of the Committee Irakli Sesiashvili noted at the Committee meeting, there were questions about the draft law, whether the approval of the initiated project would cause a shortage of conscripts in the draft system. According to Sesiashvili, working meetings were held over the past few days and the issue was agreed upon.
As he noted at the Committee meeting, agreement was reached on three issues in particular: the recruit, who will take advantage of the deferment from military service to enroll in high school, the second time will not be able to use a delay, if there is a vocational school; the applicant is to be registered for the exams, will have the right to defer military service, but that right they will get only in the year of graduation educational institution; if a person is already serving in the military and simultaneously uses the right to enter a vocational school, they will not have the right to delay and they will have to complete their military service.
In the initiated version of the bill, these reservations were not considered. According to the initiated version, the deferral from military service can be used by the applicant before enrolling in a professional education program / short-cycle training in an educational institution.
