Yazidi refugees need help

Yazidi refugees (IDPs) living in the Sri Lankan / RAS al-Ayn areas, living in the al-Nitakain school in Hasaka, suffer from poor services and lack of assistance provided by humanitarian organizations.

The school is home to thirty-three Yazidi families who were displaced from the city of Sri Kania / RAS al-Ayn and its countryside in October 2019 after a military operation that displaced tens of thousands of people. Citizens from the Sri kanya / RAS al-Ayn and Kari Sbej / Tal Abyad regions and their rural areas. Mustafa Kaddu, one of the IDPs living at the school, says Azdine: "Thirty-three IDPs in the school have not received any food aid since the beginning of this year, and that despite the supervision of the al-hasakah IDP social assistance Office, which promised to help us, but nothing was actually done, we were left without assistance."
"The curfew imposed because of the coronavirus has negatively affected the living conditions of displaced people, as most people working independently have stopped working for more than a month," Caddo said, calling on "competent" authorities to help displaced school residents.In turn, citizen Hasan Ali Ismail, says: "I used to earn at least a pittance to support my family by working daily, but my work has stopped because of the curfew, we can't go to work, and we haven't received any help from organizations for about five months."

On the other hand, citizen Eida Ahmad Sheikho explains that "Personal hygiene products and sterilizers did not get them for several months, which forced them to work together to completely wash and clean the school, fearing a coronavirus epidemic, since most of the residents are children."

"All the residents of the school come from poor families and cannot provide for their livelihood because they cannot go to work in accordance with the curfew. Children are also deprived of education, including middle and high school students," she added.

The assistance provided by humanitarian organizations to displaced persons, stopped at the beginning of this year, which created difficult living conditions for displaced persons in accordance with the curfew.
In turn, citizen Mohammad Saeed (70 years old) confirms that "the aid they received before the beginning of this year was good and sufficient for them, but this aid was stopped, and only bread and drinking water reached them in the light of difficult economic conditions on the one hand, and high food prices on the other hand".
"Some of the displaced people need medicine, and the medicines they receive are limited to analgesics, while they need medical care in difficult financial conditions after they left all their possessions because of the war," said Mohammed said.
