The success of the "Yazidi Congress": the first true information about Yazidis is now on the official website of Russian state authorities
All Yazidis, and not only Yazidis, know how many stereotypes and blatantly false information about the religion and origin of Yazidis exist in the media and the Internet. The Yazidi Congress considers it one of its most important tasks to prevent the dissemination of such information. Recently, this activity has led to an important and major success: a certificate on the ethnic (national) origin of Yazidis and their religion, previously posted on the official website of the Federal Agency for nationalities, was replaced with objective and truthful information about them at the request of the Chairman of the Yazidi Congress. Now the Yazidis are called a separate ethnic group. Also, for the first time, it is officially recognized that the Yazidis were never Zoroastrians, and their national religion-Sharfadin-is not a combination of elements of other religions.
