The actualization of revolutionary themes in Georgia is disturbing, and I would like to urge everyone to leave this country alone, said Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party.

On October 31, in Tbilisi, Indigo magazine, with the financial support of Germany's oldest political foundation, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, will hold a discussion entitled "Protest and Confrontation in Georgia".

"The name [of the discussion] is already causing concern – when someone raises the topic of revolution, especially if it happens with foreign funding, it is naturally disturbing, and I urge everyone: leave this country alone. To ensure peace in this country and not to take steps aimed at disturbing the peace is our very strict call", Kobakhidze said.

According to him, Georgian society does not need wars and revolutions in the country, and the authorities will be on the side of society.

"Society in this country wants peace and tranquility. If someone wants the opposite, wants chaos, a "second front", then there will be an appropriate answer. We cannot allow anyone to support the revolutionary processes in the country so easily. Our country needs peace, economic development, and not the trouble that some have conceived", Kobakhidze said.

Meanwhile, the executive director of "Indigo" Nata Dzvelishvili said that the event is dedicated to the new issue of the magazine, whose articles relate to the protests in Georgia in the XX-XXI centuries and their analysis from different sides.

The topic of revolutions in Georgia became relevant after the Georgian State Security Service announced on September 18 that riots were being prepared in the country with the aim of a coup in October-December 2023, when the country is waiting for a decision on granting the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union. According to the statement of the Georgian State Security Service, the riots are planned with the coordination and financial support of foreign countries.

The State Security Service claims that the true goal of Serbian citizens who arrived in Georgia on September 25 at the invitation of USAID to conduct training is to establish ties with youth organizations and NGOs, which should become the core of revolutionary processes in Georgia. It is noted that they arrived in the country at the invitation of the East-West Institute of Management under the USAID program.

USAID stated that they have been cooperating with CANVAS for more than two years and that it was they who invited representatives of the organization to Georgia. This time, cooperation with CANVAS involves assisting representatives of the spheres of culture and art in advocating for the independence of cultural and art institutions.
