The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats of Europe (ALDE) in Bucharest adopted a special resolution on Georgia, which focuses on the need for comprehensive reforms and compliance with EU policy.

The resolution includes the following issues:

The status of a candidate country for EU membership: The ALDE resolution states that "the status of a candidate for EU membership is a merit-based process" and calls on the Georgian government to accelerate the implementation of 12 priorities, of which "unfortunately, only three have been implemented".

Compliance with the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP): ALDE regrets that Georgia's compliance with CFSP decisions and declarations has been "reduced from 44% last year to 31% this year" and calls on the Georgian government to "come to full compliance with CFSP decisions and declarations".

National Bank of Georgia: The resolution expresses regret that the National Bank of Georgia violated international financial sanctions by amending its rules for the application of sanctions in order to protect the former Prosecutor General under US sanctions, Otar Partskhaladze. ALDE calls on the government and the Georgian Dream to comply with international sanctions against Russia.

Physical violence against the opposition: ALDE regrets that "physical violence against opposition leaders and their supporters has become more intense" and calls on the Government and Georgian Dream to stop violence against opposition leaders and activists.

The Law on Assemblies and Demonstrations: The resolution calls the amendments to the law "restrictive" because they restrict freedom of expression and assembly. ALDE calls on the ruling party to reverse the changes.

Recommendations of the Venice Commission: ALDE regrets that Georgia ignored the recommendations of the Venice Commission on comprehensive judicial reform.

GBS and USAID: The resolution expresses regret that the Georgian State Security Service, together with members of the Georgian Dream, accused USAID, the Ukrainian authorities and international donor organizations of "inciting unrest" and financing "revolutionary scenarios" in the country.

Ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili: The resolution calls on the government and the Georgian Dream to ensure the humanitarian transfer of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili to third countries against the background of the fact that his health has not improved.

Propaganda by the authorities: ALDE points to the anti-Western and anti-Ukrainian propaganda of the government and the "Georgian Dream" and calls on them to stop it.

The meeting of the ALDE Party Council was held on October 20-21 in Bucharest. The initiators of the special resolution were Georgia, the Netherlands and Germany.
