The Georgian government does not give permission to Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili to visit Germany, the government's press service confirmed.

Earlier, the administration of Salome Zourabichvili announced a series of visits to EU countries. The first meeting is scheduled in Berlin with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on August 31.

On July 12, the presidential administration addressed the Georgian Government about this visit. The application was rejected in writing on August 3.

The President was also denied travel:

August 22-24, working visit, Ukraine;

September 16, working visit, Switzerland;

September 27-29, official visit, Bulgaria;

October 2-3, working visit, Poland;

October 4-6, working visit, Belgium;

October 31 – November 2, working visit, Denmark;

December 1-2, working visit, UAE;

December 10-12, official visit, Czech Republic;

December 18-20, official visit, Israel.

The press service explains that according to the Constitution, “the implementation of foreign policy is the prerogative of the government and “the President exercises representative powers in foreign relations only with the consent of the Government of Georgia”. Earlier, Zourabichvili's trips have repeatedly caused a dispute between the presidential administration and the government.
