The possibility of launching a high-speed passenger train Baku-Tbilisi-Ankara is being considered, the business portal reports BM.ge.

We are talking about a sleeper passenger train, the manufacturer of which is Stadler Rail Group.

The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars route was officially opened in 2017 and all these years it was only about the transportation of goods. But last August, at a trilateral meeting in Tbilisi, at that time Turkish Transport Minister Adil Karaismayiloglu said: “We always take into account the movement of goods. Why not think about passenger transportation when the necessary infrastructure will be created in the coming years?!”.

The length of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars route is 829 km, of which 504 km pass through Azerbaijan, 246 km through Georgia and 79 km through Turkey. Azerbaijan initiated the reconstruction, which will be completed in 2024
