The largest opposition party, the United National Movement, will decide whether to join the parliament within a week. This was announced at a briefing in the UNM office by party chairman Nika Melia-the day before he left the Rustavi prison after the European Union, through one of its organizations, paid a bail set by the court in the amount of 40 thousand lari (12 thousand dollars).

Melia is meeting with UNM leaders and supporters to discuss the conditions for entering parliament and signing the agreement proposed by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel. Until Meliy's release from prison, the party refused to sign the agreement.

"There are many people in the party, they have different opinions, so we need consultations. We will try to make the decision that society is waiting for in a week. First of all, a unanimous decision must be made on whether the party continues to act on a specific plan, or changes it to another plan. That is, it begins parliamentary life in parallel with other activities, or not, the party signs the document and so enters the parliament, or does not sign it and enters on other terms," Melia said.

One of the leaders of the National Movement, Khatia Dekanoidze, told reporters that her personal position is that using parliamentary activity as a lever will be very important for the party.

"There are consultations, we have the opportunity to listen to Nika, talk to him and solve a lot of issues together with him. My personal position is that using parliamentary activity as a lever will be very important for the party," Khatia Dekanoidze said.

To the question: "Can the National Movement enter the parliament without signing the Michel document?", Dekanoidze replied that such a possibility is also being considered. "This is one of the versions under consideration," Dekanoidze said.
