In Georgia, discuss the statement of the US state Department
The Georgian leadership and the opposition interpret differently the statement of the US State Department, published on December 23.
Kakha Kaladze, Secretary General of the ruling Georgian dream, said that the main message of the United States is that Georgia has "very great support from a strategic partner" who "really sees and appreciates the positive processes taking place in the country", including in the sphere of democracy and the judiciary.
At the same time, according to Kaladze, the Georgian authorities "will do everything" to overcome the existing challenges, including in the Prosecutor's system, which are mentioned in the state Department statement.
"In no developed and democratic country is it possible for everything to be in the best possible way. Accordingly, we will do everything to adequately respond to these challenges, " Kaladze told reporters on December 24.
At the same time, the Executive Secretary of "Georgian dream" Irakli Kobakhidze accused opponents of deliberately distorting the text of the state Department statement: "They know very well that this statement of support is real, it is just beneficial for them to present it differently. As for the multiplication of efforts in relation to the courts and the Prosecutor's office, we have been talking about it all this time and it is with this purpose that the fourth wave of judicial reform was carried out, which must now be implemented in practice."
