The Georgian authorities call unemployment the main challenge. Various programmes are being implemented to address employment problems. One of the areas of work is to promote legal employment of Georgian citizens abroad.
"We have repeatedly said that the main challenges for us in the near future will be jobs, security and education. These are the priority areas on which our diplomatic corps should actively work, and we must understand that the creation of jobs for our citizens both outside the country, in neighboring countries, and inside the country is the most important priority, on which the entire diplomatic corps should work, " Gaharia said.
This statement was made by Gakharia at the "conference of ambassadors 2019", which takes place in Tbilisi on December 17-20.
The number of labor migrants who left Georgia, as well as the unemployed in the country reaches a total of 2 million, said earlier the founder and Chairman of the ruling party "Georgian dream – democratic Georgia" Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Ivanishvili noted that Georgia is working on an agreement with European countries so that Georgian citizens can legally work there and fill the labor shortage in Europe. According to him, it will be seasonal work.
