From Denmark to Switzerland – an exhibition of the works of the great Pirosmani opened in the Museum of the Beyeler Foundation

The exhibition of works by the great artist Niko Pirosmani has opened in the Museum of the Beyeler Foundation in Switzerland with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia and will last until January 28, 2024, the press service of the department reported.

Before arriving in Switzerland, Pirosmani's paintings were exhibited at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark from May 4 to August 20. The exhibition was visited by more than 260 thousand visitors.

The exhibition in Switzerland presents 46 works by Pirosmani, 45 of which belong to the collection of the Sh. Amiranashvili State Museum of Art, and one work is from the collection of the Niko Pirosmani State Museum in the village of Mirzaani (Kakheti region). Curator of the exhibition – Director of the Kunsthalle (Museum) Zurich Samuel Keller.

Within the framework of the exposition, the so-called Pirosmani room is presented in a completely new way, in which the visitor is told about the life of the artist and the life of Tbilisi at that time, and for this purpose photographs of the D. Ermakov Foundation of the National Museum, newspaper publications and publications of that period are used.
