Kazakhstan will transport from 2 to 3 million tons of oil through Georgia in 2022

Kazakhstan plans to transport from 2 to 3 million tons of oil through the Georgian corridor in 2022, the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia reports.
Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Levan Davitashvili met with the Kazakh delegation headed by the Special Representative of the President of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kazykhanov.
The sides discussed trade, economic, transport and logistics issues between Georgia and Kazakhstan. It was noted that economic trends between countries are characterized by great potential and growing dynamics.
"The Kazakh side expressed interest in increasing cargo turnover along the Georgian corridor. It was noted that already in 2022 Kazakhstan plans to transport from 2 to 3 million tons of oil along the Georgian corridor, in the coming years it is planned to further increase this indicator," the report said.
The transport infrastructure of Georgia is maximally ready for the transportation of goods from Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries to Europe, it was noted at the meeting.
Speaking about transport and logistics ties, the parties stressed the need for coordinated work to attract cargo along the transport corridor passing through Georgia and Kazakhstan.
At the meeting, the parties agreed to make joint efforts to attract and service cargo transportation in the transport corridors through Georgia and Kazakhstan in the long term.
Georgia and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations in July 1992. The countries cooperate in the fields of energy, transport, and agriculture. Kazakhstan has been one of Georgia's major investors for many years. This Central Asian country invested money in the energy and tourism sectors.
The trade turnover between the countries in January-March 2022 amounted to $29.5 million, while exports to Kazakhstan increased by 149.7% compared to the same indicators in 2021, and amounted to $ 23.7 million.
