SpaceX may launch its first Satellite Internet in Georgia
According to the Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology (GITA), the Georgian delegation was in the United States, where it met with the leadership of SpaceX.
According to the agency, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Irakli Nadareishvili, Chairman of the Agency for Innovations and Technologies Avtandil Kasradze, and Consul General of Georgia in San Francisco Levan Beridze discussed possible cooperation with the chief Financial Officer of SpaxeX Bret Johnsen and one of the investors of the American company Bill Reichert.
"SpaceX has expressed interest in involving Georgia in the process of internetization, so they consider Georgia as one of the first pilot countries where SpaceX will provide satellite Internet to the population. They also discussed the more active participation of Georgia and Georgians in the company's future plans.
As a result of the negotiations, SpaceX with the help of GITA will soon begin the official procedure for obtaining a license to provide Internet provider services in Georgia," the Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology reported.
Elon Musk's company SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies) plans to provide wireless Internet around the world using the Starlink satellite system. According to SpaceX, technically this will be possible already in September, when 1,8 thousand satellites of the company will reach their orbits.
