The Executive Board of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), at its first regular session, approved the Country Programme Document for UNDP activities in Georgia in 2021-2025. This is reported by the Public Television of Georgia.

According to the UN Mission in Georgia, the document includes four priority areas: improving governance to ensure equality and justice, preserving a green, clean and climate-resilient environment, developing the potential of the regions, and improving the housing conditions of the conflict-affected population.

At the meeting of the Executive Board, the Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN, Kakha Imnadze, made a statement, noting that the Program Document (CPD) is fully consistent with national development priorities and contributes to the country's efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Imnadze thanked the UNDP for its contribution to strengthening democratic processes and economic development in Georgia, as well as for the assistance provided during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, Imnadze confirmed the readiness of the Georgian side to continue close cooperation with the UNDP.

UNDP is one of the largest UN agencies. The representative office has been open in Georgia since 1993. The main goal is to promote the democratic development of the country in close cooperation with national and international partners. The activities cover four main areas: democratic governance, economic development, environmental protection and energy, crisis prevention and post-crisis rehabilitation.
