If the opposition misses more than half of the parliamentary plenary sessions of the spring session, it will lose its mandates by law, said the head of the Committee on Procedural Issues, Irakli Kadagishvili.

"The Constitution stipulates that if deputies miss more than half of the sessions, they automatically lose their mandates. Therefore, the question of their powers will be raised for the second time, even without their statement, " Kadagishvili told reporters.

The spring session opened in the Georgian Parliament on February 2 and will last until the end of June. Today, the opposition deputies voted against depriving their colleagues from the opposition of their parliamentary powers. The leadership of the ruling Georgian Dream party explained that they are ready to give the opposition another chance to "stop sabotage" and return to the work of the parliament.

Following the results of the October 31 parliamentary elections, Georgian Dream won 90 seats, and the majority of opposition parties – 60. The parliament currently has 90 deputies from the ruling party and six deputies from the opposition. Another 51 elected opposition MPs refuse to enter parliament in protest against election fraud and in November submitted applications to terminate their powers. The ruling party denies fraud and calls on the opposition to join the work in parliament.

As a compromise, Georgian Dream is ready to change the electoral system and investigate the course of the parliamentary elections within the framework of the Commission of Inquiry. Four deputies, elected on the lists of the Alliance of Patriots party, but forced to leave this party and create their own under the name "European Socialists", have already agreed to such conditions. Today, two deputies from the "Citizens" party also joined the work of the parliament. Three other representatives of the Girchi party, who are in the boycott mode, said that they also do not want to work in the parliament if the opposition is not widely represented there.
