Another rally was held in front of the Georgian parliament building demanding the immediate lifting of restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Several dozen representatives of the movement "For the People" ("Khalkhistvis") and non-governmental organizations brought posters to the rally "People can not be seen from jeeps, the country must be opened!". They demand to restore the work of public transport. Recently, it became known that the government plans to launch buses and subways in the capital no earlier than March 1, or when the coronavirus infection rate drops to less than 4%.

The participants of the action say that the officials who move around in expensive cars do not understand the needs of ordinary citizens. Meanwhile, city residents are forced to take a taxi, which is quite expensive against the background of the deepening economic crisis and the forced downtime of many sectors of the economy.

At the rally, a list of expensive cars used by members of the government was published:

Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze — Fiat 500 Abarth,

Deputy Mayor Ilya Eloshvili-Toyota Fortuner,

Minister of defence Irakli Garibashvili, Audi A8 and Range Rover Velar,

Minister of Economy Natia Turnava-Mercedes Benz ML class,

Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani — Toyota RAV 4,

Minister of Health-Ekaterina Tikaradze-Mercedes G 300 D 2,

Prime Minister George Gakharia — Toyota RAV4.

"The people who set restrictions for us are sitting in black SUVs themselves and do not understand our problems, do not understand our socio-economic needs. We call for the lifting of restrictions, " said activist Nino Tsuladze.

The participants of the action offered today, January 29, to join the action "Give a signal — The country needs to be opened". At 11 o'clock, everyone who shares the position of the activists should honk the horn from the car and thus support the demand to lift the restrictions.

The Georgian government plans to allow public transport to operate in all major cities, with the exception of Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Rustavi, starting from February 1. This decision causes dissatisfaction of the population of the capital – in Tbilisi, permanent actions with the demand to lift restrictions do not stop.

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said at a government meeting that if the detection rate of coronavirus cases in the country remains at 4%, the process of lifting restrictions "may begin earlier than planned."
