The People against the Government-the Institute of Freedom begins to file collective lawsuits in the Constitutional Court. The lawyer of the organization Gvantsa Kvaratskheliya talked about it to the Tabula edition. As Kvaratskheliya explained to us, the restrictions imposed by the government in connection with the new coronavirus do not have a constitutional and legislative basis, and therefore, the organization appeals against all the restrictions that are in force in the country today.

"The Government of Georgia is not limited by the legislative framework, nor is it subject to the control of the legislative body. The only constitutional body where people can defend their rights remains the Constitutional Court. Thus, we draw up class actions and appeal to the Constitutional Court to protect the business and property rights of these people, and in addition, it should become predictable when these people will be able to continue their activities. Under the current legislative framework that vision does not exist," said Gvantsa Kvaratskhelia.

To demand the lifting of restrictions, an action is being held in front of the government office building under the slogan #social explosion, organized by companies and civil society activists, also affected by the restrictions, and supported by some opposition politicians.

The first action took place on January 24, during which the protesters presented the government with a 48-hour ultimatum. After the expiration of the ultimatum, they decided to file a collective complaint with the Constitutional Court.
