We are working to ensure that there are no failures in the supply of food, speculative prices do not increase and the consumer does not suffer, - said Levan Davitashvili, Minister of environment and agriculture of Georgia.

According to the Ministry, according to the Prime Minister's instructions, a working group on regulating food stocks and prices in the country has been established, which is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Maya Tskitishvili.

In the format of this group's work, a meeting was held today in the Ministry of environment and agriculture of Georgia under the leadership of the head of the Department Levan Davitashvili, which was attended by representatives of major food chains, importers and representatives of distribution companies.

"Regular monitoring and meetings will continue on a daily basis with both importers and distributors, as well as representatives of major retail chains, so that, on the one hand, there are no failures with the supply of food and, on the other hand, prices do not increase speculatively and the consumer does not suffer," Levan Davitashvili said.
As noted at today's meeting, despite the introduction of restrictions due to the risk of spreading coronavirus in the country, there is no threat of food shortages.
The meeting was attended by the business Ombudsman, representatives of the Ministry of economy and sustainable development of Georgia, as well as heads of the relevant departments of the Ministry of environment and agriculture of Georgia.
