Health authorities in Iraqi Kurdistan announced on March 13 that a medical worker in Erbil and seven residents of Sulaymaniyah had been infected with the new coronavirus. Because of this, a curfew was set .
In a brief press release, the Ministry of health said that six of the seven patients in Sulaymaniyah are family members of a previously infected man who died two weeks ago. Another infected person in Sulaymaniyah recently returned from pandemic-stricken Italy.
The Ministry also confirmed another case in Erbil: a 45-year-old man is a medical worker.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Iraqi Kurdistan was 27. One of them died.
