Dahuk is a city in Iraq, the administrative center of the governorate of Dahuk. The city is inhabited mainly by Kurds, Assyrians and Yazidis. Dahuk is the fourth largest city in Iraqi Kurdistan after Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Kirkuk. The city is home to the University of Dahuk, opened in 1992.

The city was founded in 1236, when Hasan Bega Saifaddin annexed the Principality of Badinan. In 1842, the Principality was conquered by the Ottomans and the city fell to the city of Mosul. In 1898 there were, according to the report, eleven small private schools, two Christian and two Jewish schools. In 1920, there were only five primary schools in Iraq that were accessible to girls, and one of them was in Dahuk.

Dahuk was originally called Nuhadra or Naarda. Dahuk remained a village until the end of the First world war. Since then, the city has expanded. It has grown significantly since 1992. Today it has about half a million people.

Dahuk is well developed in the field of tourism. There are many places that you can visit. Among them are Sulaf, Ashawa and Dahuka platinum.

The city of Dahuk in terms of GDP is not the richest city in Iraqi Kurdistan. However, in Dahuk, many blocks with villas are being built, many expensive cars are being built, and there are no problems with food, fuel and other necessities.

The population of 2013 is 296,992 people.

At the moment there is no Internet connection in Dahuk and we cannot cover the situation of Yazidi IDPs who are in refugee camps and the General situation of the Yazidi community in The city.
