The restoration of the Bagration-Davitashvili tower in the village of PCA (Karelian district) has been completed, the National Agency for cultural heritage protection said in a Facebook post.

Before the restoration, the fortification structure was almost completely destroyed, and the remaining fragments were in critical condition. The workers raised the tower with the help of selected cobblestones on lime mortar.

Also, during the work, the openings in the tower were sealed with stones, which were also fastened with lime solution, and cracks were injected. In addition, the destroyed I and II roofs were restored with Georgian bricks.

On the first floor, the floor was made of lime mortar, and on the second-of wood. Restorations touched the fireplace and loophole. There is also a wooden staircase and a balcony on the second floor.

Restoration work was carried out with the permission of the National Agency for the protection of cultural heritage of Georgia and financial support from the Kartu Foundation.

The three-story cylindrical tower, 10 meters high, dates from 1799-1800. It stands in the center of the village of PCA on the left Bank of the Prone river. The tower is built of cobblestone bricks and sand. The first floor of the structure is intended for agricultural purposes, the second for housing and defense. Inside, there are also two Windows, a fireplace and a loophole, on the door you can see the image of a cross. The tower has a wooden roof.
