In order for families to spend social assistance appropriately, 30 lari ($10) out of 50 lari are intended for food. Families can only spend this amount on groceries and buy them using a special card. They receive the remaining 20 lari ($9) as a sum of money. In some regions of Georgia, families receive this amount entirely in the form of money.
As a reminder, starting from April 2020, social benefits will no longer be stopped for socially vulnerable families in Georgia during the period of re-checking the rating points that set their standard of living.
