Georgia ratified the free trade agreement with the UK, which was signed in October 2019. This was announced by Deputy Minister of economy and sustainable development Genadiy Arveladze.

"Before brexit was triggered, we were negotiating with the UK. We signed the agreement and ratified it. Now we expect the same from the British side. We think that ratification will take place in a month. It is important for us to complete this process in a timely manner," Arveladze said.

The free trade agreement with the UK was signed in October last year during a working visit of Georgian foreign Minister David Zalkaliani to London. The free trade deal is part of the agreement "on strategic partnership and cooperation between Georgia and the United Kingdom of great Britain and Northern Ireland".

According to the national statistics service of Georgia "Sakstat ", in 2019, the country exported goods to the UK in the amount of more than 35 million dollars. Imports from the UK to Georgia last year amounted to about $ 110 million.

Georgia is also preparing to conclude a free trade agreement with India and Israel.
