The us Supreme court has supported tougher rules for issuing green cards

According to the Washington Post, the new rule provides for stricter procedures for those whom the government considers highly dependent on state benefits.

The decision was supported by five judges, and four voted against. Previously, the government initiative, which was supposed to take effect in October 2019, was blocked by a new York court.

When granting legal permanent residence, immigration officers will take into account factors such as age, education level, and English language proficiency. The US administration argues that the new rules are necessary to ensure the self-sufficiency of immigrants.
