The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has worsened Georgia's GDP growth forecast in 2023 from 5.8% to 4%.

This follows the organization's October report on the prospects for the development of the global economy.

Compared with its July estimates, the IMF left the current year's figures unchanged. Georgia's economy is expected to grow by 9% in 2022.

At the same time, the IMF worsened the forecast of global GDP growth to 2.7% in 2023 and left it unchanged in the current year.

The fund points out that the global economy is now facing several serious challenges, with the outlook affected by the war in Ukraine, the cost-of-living crisis caused by increasing inflationary pressures, and a slowdown in China due to the coronavirus pandemic.
