In the six months of 2022, Georgia received foreign investments worth 922.9 million dollars

In January-June 2022, the volume of foreign direct investment in Georgia amounted to 922.9 million dollars. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Levan Davitashvili, speaking in the Parliament of Georgia with a report in the format of "ministerial hour".

According to him, investments have increased by 102% compared to last year, 2021 and by 62.5% compared to 2019. The EU's share in foreign direct investments in Georgia is 42.5%.  

Davitashvili assessed 2022 as "positive" in terms of attracting foreign direct investment.

The Economy Minister repeated the figures recently announced by the Prime Minister. He said that in Georgia, both in the first and in the second quarter, unemployment decreased and employment increased. In the second quarter, the unemployment rate fell by four points to 18.1%.

The Minister highlighted the trends of tourism recovery, which, according to him, will intensify in 2022.

According to Davitashvili, the level of recovery of tourism revenues in January-August 2022 (compared to the pre-pandemic period) amounted to 94,6% and revenues amounted to 2 billion 141,6 million dollars.

At the same time, in July and August, Georgia's tourism revenues exceeded a record pre-pandemic figure.

"The September data are encouraging, we expect that tourism revenues this year will be at least equal to the record figures of 2019", Davitashvili said.
