Georgia signed the "Declaration on the Future of the Internet" initiated by the USA

More than 55 countries have signed a declaration aimed at promoting freedom, openness, reliability, and security of the Internet. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Georgia.
The "Declaration on the Future of the Internet" was adopted on the initiative of the United States. In addition to Georgia, it was also joined by all EU members, Australia, Great Britain, Israel, Canada, Serbia, Ukraine, Japan, as well as the European Commission and Taiwan. The document remains open for signature.
The main principles of the declaration are: protection of human rights and freedoms, promotion of a global Internet with a free flow of information, development of inclusive and accessible communication, promotion of trust in the global digital ecosystem, including through the protection of privacy and countering cybercrime, strengthening a multilateral approach to Internet governance. The signatories pledged to work with civil society and other stakeholders to implement them.
"The purpose of the declaration is to support democratic systems and promote the active participation of every citizen in democratic processes, ensuring the confidentiality of individuals, maintaining safe and reliable relationships, protecting human rights and respect in the online/digital ecosystem, ensuring a free and competitive global economy, and so on," the Ministry of Economy informed.
