In Georgia, up to 40% of school teachers have been vaccinated against coronavirus. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the country.
"The number of vaccinated teachers in Georgia is approaching 40%, and the process continues," the report says.
In order to facilitate the course of vaccination, additional offices for representatives of the education sector have been opened in all immunization centers in Georgia. There, teachers can get vaccinated without prior registration with any vaccine available in the country.
At the same time, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the Georgian office of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is holding informational meetings with teachers in the regions on the topic of vaccination against COVID-19. Such events are conducted by well-known experts in the field of healthcare and representatives of the National Center for Disease Control.
By the beginning of the academic year in autumn 2020, 2,309 schools were registered in Georgia, including 2,086 public and 223 private. They employed 62,699 teachers.
Epidemiologists and members of the Government of Georgia have repeatedly noted that the timing of the start of full-time training may depend on the pace of vaccination of employees of educational institutions.
Vaccination against coronavirus began in Georgia on March 15. The campaign became widespread on July 5. As of August 19, 883,570 people received at least one component of the COVID-19 vaccine, which is more than 23% of the total population of Georgia.
