The national discussion of constitutional changes will resume today in Tbilisi

The Commission for the national discussion of the draft amendments to the constitutional law will hold a meeting in Tbilisi today. The planned changes will be discussed at the Parliament Palace in Tbilisi.
The draft amendments to the constitutional law were initiated in the Parliament on June 29.
The project was signed by 91 deputies. The project, along with the members of the Georgian Dream, was signed by representatives of Citizens, Girchi, Agmashenebeli Strategies and Lelo.
According to the draft, agreed upon because of consultations between the ruling team and the opposition, the electoral barrier in the next two parliamentary elections is 2%, and the procedure for proportional distribution of mandates is established. According to the second point of the draft, the number of members for the creation of parliamentary factions is reduced from seven to four. According to the same draft, the next general prosecutors will be elected by a qualified majority, and if they cannot be elected by a qualified majority, the support of 76 deputies will be enough. Changes to the Constitution require 113 votes.
