Euronews explained why "remote workers" from different countries of the world choose Georgia for life and work during the pandemic.

The article on the TV channel's website says that now "thousands of foreigners from all over the world" are flocking to Georgia to work there remotely. The authors of the article believe that the interest of "digital nomads" in the country, hidden between the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains, is not only due to" delicious local cuisine, culture and beauty".

"Life here is much cheaper, Internet access is very good, and it is safer than in most countries of the world," says Candy Treft, 51, who moved to Georgia from the United States in 2019.

Andrew Brown, a 28-year-old IT developer who moved to Georgia from New Jersey, USA, believes that Georgia is "a great place to explore even in the days of covid."

"What I like most is the friendliness and openness of the culture. I'm an outsider, but I never feel like I'm out of place here," Brown says. The American noted that more and more "digital nomads" have been coming to Georgia recently.

Euronews links this to an initiative of the Georgian authorities, which is aimed at attracting well-off remote workers who want to travel, despite the restrictions on COVID-19.

This program allows citizens of 95 countries to live and work in Georgia for a year if their confirmed monthly income exceeds $ 2,000 (1,670 euros). Another condition for those who want to participate is a negative test result for coronavirus or a certificate of vaccination against this disease.

According to the National Tourism Administration of Georgia, about 2,300 people have applied for participation in the program, and more than 800 have already arrived in the country.
