The attack in Vienna was carried out by Islamists, one of the attackers sympathized with ISIL, the authorities said. The victims of the attack were three, almost a dozen people were shot when after eight in the evening, the attackers began to shoot passers-by on the street next to the synagogue. The shooting continued five more Central streets of Vienna crowded on the eve of the second quarantine this year.

One of the attackers was eliminated by the police. The search for another continues.

An eyewitness of the incident tells: "I heard the sound of gunshots. We didn't understand what happened. But we saw people running away, we froze, we didn't move for a while. But the sound of gunfire was getting louder, and then we started running, too. But we didn't know if we were running away from the attackers or if we were approaching them. So, we ran to the nearest hotel and took shelter there."

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz did not rule out that the terrorists could have "anti-Semitic motives".

Interior Minister of the Alpine Republic Karl Nehammer addressed the residents of the capital of the country: "If possible, I ask the Viennese not to leave the house unless there is a serious and compelling reason."

Solidarity with the Austrian people was expressed by the European Union, as well as the heads of European countries.

Macron published a tweet in German, in which he urged not to give up, because, as the French President stressed, "the whole of Europe" is behind us.

The Austrian authorities are convinced-and say this publicly-that the criminals were professionally trained and well-armed.

Special forces "Cobra", at least a hundred employees from the rapid response unit, as well as police in civilian uniforms were sent to search for the second attacker, TASS emphasizes in correspondence from the scene of the event.
