The European Commission is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against those responsible for police violence and election fraud in Belarus. This was stated by the EU high representative for foreign policy Josep Borrel. According to him, the elections in the country were "neither free nor fair", and the authorities resorted to "disproportionate and unacceptable violence".

Peter Stano, official representative of the European Commission:

"Incredible bullying, reprisals against candidates, their teams, against journalists, bloggers, activists, peaceful demonstrators, the level of violence after the vote, violent violence — all this is unacceptable. We condemn the violence and call on the Belarusian authorities to release all those who were detained illegally, solely for political reasons."

The candidate in presidents of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovski is now in Lithuania: in Vilnius officially confirmed it. The visa allows her to stay in the country for a year. Her associates believe that she was forced to flee due to unprecedented pressure. They declare that the struggle for the change of power continues.

Maria Kolesnikova, chief of staff of Viktor Babariko:

"These protests are caused by the fact that the government refuses to listen to its citizens. For what is happening now, most of the responsibility is borne by the government, which does not hear its citizens, and now it is responsible for their safety."

Current President Alexander Lukashenko called the incident an attempted coup. According to official data of the Central election Commission, he received about 80% of the vote in the elections. The Belarusian foreign Ministry urged European countries not to rush to "loud conclusions" and "objectively assess the situation".

Despite the departure Tikhanovski, in the Belarusian cities there are ongoing protests and clashes with security forces. At least one person is known to have died.

The Ministry of health reported that more than 200 injured participants of street actions are in hospitals across the country. According to official data, about three thousand people were detained on Monday night, and about two thousand more were detained the following night.
