ADB funds will help mitigate the negative impact of the crisis on businesses and help preserve the livelihoods of vulnerable groups

Georgia has signed an agreement with the Asian development Bank (ADB) to receive $ 100 million in loans intended to solve problems due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the website of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.

The loan agreement was signed by Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani and ADB permanent representative in Georgia Shane Rosenthal.

According to Machavariani, the Asian development Bank is one of Georgia's largest partners, and cooperation with them in the context of the coronavirus pandemic is vital.

The money will be used to mitigate the economic costs created by the pandemic, improve macroeconomic conditions and improve the well-being of the population, with special attention to the most vulnerable groups whose livelihoods have been severely affected by the pandemic.

The Asian development Bank has supported Georgia since 2007 and is one of the most multilateral partners. The total value of the debts issued to Georgia is $ 2.8 billion.
