From Monday, June 1, open – air restaurants, bars and cafes will reopen in Georgia-public catering establishments and visitors will have to comply with the rules and recommendations defined by the Ministry of health.

What visitors need to know:

No more than six guests can be seated at the table. Exceptions can be made for members of the same family or for a group of six people with a child under 12 years of age.

It is better to book a table in advance. All restaurants and cafes are recommended to implement a pre-order system. Otherwise, visitors may be asked to wait outside.

At the entrance, all visitors will measure the temperature and apply a disinfectant liquid on their hands. You can't order drinks at the bar. Only their delivery to the table is allowed.

Public catering establishments are recommended to give preference to non-cash payments. Users should be prepared for the fact that they will only be able to pay the bill with a card.

What will restaurants change:

The distance between each table should be at least two meters. If the area of the establishment does not allow you to meet this condition, cafes and restaurants can use a temporary protective barrier or simultaneously serve a limited number of guests.

The distance between the chairs must be at least 1 meter. All seats must be marked.

You can use electronic or one-time menus (printouts of menus on sheets to be disposed of after the first use).

A banner should be placed at the entrance with information about COVID-19 – how to properly wash and disinfect hands, remove masks and gloves, how customers should behave, and so on.

Technical standards:

Used napkins should be disposed of in a separate trash can with a closing lid. At the same time, tables should only have disposable napkins, as well as tablecloths. A log should be kept where all employees ' temperature data will be entered before opening.

All employees must wear protective masks. Those who work in the kitchen should also use gloves, hats, and other personal protective equipment. Establishments are recommended to abandon the use of split systems in favor of industrial air conditioners.

Closed containers should be installed for used hygienic waste.

As often as possible, you should wash and disinfect the surfaces and inventory on which the products are placed. All dishes, Cutlery and kitchen utensils must be washed and dried in a designated area. Wash the dishes three times — twice at a temperature of 40 degrees using a cleaning agent, and the third time with water up to 65 degrees.

Due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus, a state of emergency was in effect in Georgia from March 21 to may 23. For more than two months, restaurants and cafes have been allowed to work only on take-out.

According to the government's decision, from June 1, establishments that can accommodate guests in the open air will be able to open, and from June 8 – all other food facilities.
