As of today, public transport has started operating in Georgia, which was stopped for almost two months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the morning, the capital's metro is open, and all buses and minibuses in both Tbilisi and the regions have started their flights.

In transport, both passengers and drivers must wear protective masks. Compliance with this provision is monitored by the patrol police and employees of municipal services.

In addition, according to the decision of the government and epidemiologists, it is forbidden to turn on air conditioning in minibuses. Trips are only possible with the Windows open. Minibus drivers will also be banned from transporting passengers standing up. Air conditioning will also be banned on buses.

To prevent the spread of the Georgian coronavirus in connection with the pandemic, a state of emergency was in effect from March 21 to may 22.

Even before the introduction of the state of emergency – from March 18, minibus taxis stopped working in Georgia. Since March 31, both buses and the metro have been stopped.

Considering the improvement of the epidemiological situation, the Georgian authorities began to ease the restrictions imposed on April 27. Several measures continue to operate in the country, which will be phased out by July 15.

For example, all types of intercity passenger transport are still suspended. It is already known that they will be allowed from June 8.

According to the latest official data, 738 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Georgia. 573 people recovered – this is almost 78% of all the facts recorded in the country since February 28. 12 patients died from complications caused by the coronavirus. More than 3,000 people remain in quarantine, and 250 are under observation in hospitals.
