About the situation in Shangal

According to Dr. Amy " She was going to visit all the empty villages in the South of the mountain and post a video report . The commander of the Iraqi army said that he would give her permission, but she had to stay at home because of the threat of coronavirus in the house of Hussein Barjis, Mukhtar and his brother, who recently died.

When she went to the nearby Kocho district to take some photos from the cemetery for my e-book, I was blocked from entering Maher, but Mukhtar's son-in-law, Nayef Jaso, helped her leave.

Dr. Amy had to promise to build a Playground in order to enter Kocho.

Two women, from Kocho, went with her in the car. She had moved into Kocho several times and lived there without electricity with the surviving people from Kocho for several weeks, but this time they didn't want to let me in.

The women said: "We can't talk to our men. They don't listen to us." When will Yazidi women find strength and courage and stop being helpless?-she asked this question to the community

Dr. Amy L. Beam also adds that " Other Yazidi villages remain empty and uninhabitable. I could just post my photos and videos of those villages from last year. They look the same, they are more destroyed and overgrown with weeds. Several families live in tal Kassab, including Nayef Jaso of Kocho. Several families returned to the village in Solag. IOM promises to help clean up the wreckage of destroyed homes in 8 Solage villages and build two-room homes for each returning family to start life over. Nothing has started yet. They collect the names of affected refugees and displaced persons. These villages are empty and lack infrastructure: tal Banat, Girzerik, Rambousi, Catania (tal Ezer), Siba Sheikh Khudir, Tabernacle and other small villages and districts. Last year I visited the Mukhtar of Seera tal, who returned with his family. He lived there (3 days) with the YPG militia who gave him an electric generator. He said there was no source of electricity to support more people. I don't know if they're still there."

Young community members in the army

"Over the past few years, I have observed several times young Yazidi men who moved several times from one unit to another YPG (representing Syria), YBS (Ezidis from Shangal), Hashd al-SHAABI, the Iraqi army and the Iraqi police. They are all just looking for a $ 300 monthly salary. These units have very little to do with loyalty to protect Shangal.

The PKK (from Turkey) left Shangal, but it is about interpretation. The PKK trained the YPG (men) and YPJ (women) in Syria. YPG trained YBS in Shangala. I worry about these innocent young men and some women too.

Last week, during a picnic in Solag (near the city of Sinjar), 20 YBS in uniform quickly advanced past us and did a bit of training. Then they came back and jumped into the water in their uniforms, laughing and splashing. Two of them were standing on their guns. I thought they were just kids having fun. They have no schools, no jobs, and no future. They are suffering in a hot country to protect Shangal from ISIS. I want to thank them. Of course, they are not terrorists, they are fighters for freedom and independence."

The position of the Iraqi Army and its influence in the disputed territory of Sinjar

The Iraqi army and police are everywhere on almost every street and in the city of Sinjar, presumably because of the virus. I think one of them will definitely bring the virus to Shangal, since they rotate every two weeks. In my opinion, more of an invasion from Baghdad to make sure that Baghdad controls the disputed Sinjar zone. Quite a few of the army and even more of the police are Yazidis and live in Shangal or Kurdistan.

People generally believe that the Iraqi army will not abandon its posts if an attack occurs. There are also Yazidis in Shingal who still receive Peshmerga salaries, but live here so that Kurdistan can get a Foundation in Shangal. They don't wear uniforms. Some also receive salaries from the PKK (the controlling political party in Kurdistan). They told me themselves. They need Finance to feed their families.

Haider Shesho still maintains its headquarters in the center of Sinjar. They do not indicate any checkpoints or patrols, but they are ready to protect Shangal.

Meanwhile, some people in the Kurdistan camps are so tired of living in tents that they are ready to return to their empty villages, such as tal Banat, even with insecurity, but they cannot do so without infrastructure and financial support.

YBS has offered $ 1,000 dollars to any family that wants to return to Shangal. Immediately after some families accepted the offer, the PKK party in Kurdistan rushed to give Yazidis food and aid to counter THE ybs influence. It's all a game with people's lives.

The government can afford to give money to all the families to return to Shangal, but the government does not want to help. This includes foreign governments. The Baghdad government gave grants of $ 10,000 to people to return to Tikrit and Kirkuk, what I heard. I can't confirm that.
