The government of Georgia plans to systematically register a total of 1.2 million hectares of land over the next three years, this issue was discussed at a working meeting chaired by Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, the government's press service reports.

As the Minister of justice Thea Tsulukiani noted at the meeting, the 8-month project of the land registration system, which will start in the summer, will initially be implemented in several high-altitude regions.

From the beginning of next year, the project will be expanded to cover all regions of Georgia. Over the next three years, the project will be implemented in dozens of villages across the country.

The meeting participants assessed the reforms that have been implemented in the country since 2016, and stressed that the area of successfully registered land has tripled since 2016 to date.

According to government members, these figures demonstrate the success of the reform, and there is a willingness to take even faster steps to ensure that systematic land registration produces similar positive results.
