Today, may 9, marks the 75th anniversary of the" day of liberation " of Nazi Germany and the end of world war II. Day of liberation from fascism. During world war II, more than 60 million people died, including more than 26 million on the Soviet side.

On the side of the Soviet Union, thousands of Yazidis also fought against Hitler. It was a matter of course for the Yazidis to protect the country they had moved to years before they left their homeland. In the 1926 census, there were 14,523 Yazidis in the USSR, not counting Kurds. Yazidis lived and were registered on the territory of Armenia, Georgia and Russia.

At the end of the war, many of these heroes returned home and began working in factories and collective farms. They raised the Soviet Union from the ruins. Over time, there were Yazidi intellectuals, doctors, teachers, engineers, chairmen of collective farms, state farms, Directors of enterprises, poets and writers.

Samand Siabandov received the highest awards of the Soviet Union and was declared a national English hero.
