The first batch of six thousand tons of grain has already arrived at the port of Poti, another 12 thousand tons will arrive in the near future

The company "Bevrili group", which supplies Georgia with flour, purchased 18 thousand tons of grain, the administration of the Governor of Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti said in a statement.

According to the administration, the first 6 thousand tons of grain have already arrived at the Poti port, and another 12 thousand tons will arrive in the near future. "This is a leading company that provides flour and bread not only to our region, but also to most of Georgia. It had grain reserves, in addition, it purchased another 18 thousand tons. Therefore, the deficit of bread and flour in the country is excluded", - said the Governor of the region Alexander Mozerella.

According to him, the purchase of grain was made under the state subsidy program.

To help companies cope with the sharp increase in grain prices, as well as to avoid the rise in the price of bread, the government of Georgia approved a program to subsidize wheat and first-grade flour.

Subsidies will be granted to those companies that undertake to keep the price for one bag of flour of the first category at 51 gel for three months.

In total, the authorities intend to implement a subsidy for the import of 40 thousand tons of wheat. The authorities plan to spend 5.2 million lari (about 1.7 million dollars) on the implementation of the program.

According to the terms of the program, an importer who brings from 2 to 40 thousand tons of wheat to Georgia will receive a subsidy from the state in the amount of 40 dollars per ton, in the equivalent of gel.
