Georgian authorities are interested in peace and stability in the country taking into account their national interests, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili stated at the Paris Peace Forum.

The Georgian Prime Minister is attending the forum together with world leaders with whom he will hold high-level meetings.

"For 10 years we have not done anything to the detriment of our sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests. We do everything for our people. We are doing everything as it will be better for our citizens and the future", said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

According to him, stability has enabled Georgia to implement many reforms, get visa-free regime with the EU and European perspective.

At the same time, he noted that the Georgian authorities have chosen a policy of strategic patience.

"There are issues that cannot be solved immediately. Patience and a long-term strategy, a plan of action is necessary and it should be followed, be consistent in its achievement", Garibashvili said, emphasizing that the restoration of territorial integrity remains the main thing for Georgia.

Georgia lost control over Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region (South Ossetia) after armed conflicts in the early 1990s. After the August 2008 war, Russia unilaterally recognized the independence of South Ossetia (Tskhinvali region) and Abkhazia. Tbilisi responded by severing diplomatic relations with Moscow and legally declared the conflict zones as occupied territories.

He also noted that stability has also brought economic prosperity to Georgia, reflected in GDP growth.

"We are creating good policies and good governance ensures rapid economic growth, which increases employment opportunities for our citizens, stability and predictability for business and direct investment", Garibashvili said.

Georgia has been repeatedly urged to open a second front by representatives of Ukraine, including the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov. Georgia's ruling party said that as long as the Georgian Dream is in power, it will not allow the opening of a second front, "it is excluded".
