"The ultimate goal of publishing the human rights report is to support Georgia's efforts to strengthen democracy and protect the rights of all citizens", said U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan.
According to her, a double check is used to ensure the reliability of the information entered in the report.
"For decades, the United States has produced human rights reports that dealt not with political parties or individuals, but with problems and were based on a number of credible sources.
We double check that the information entered in the report is reliable and accurate. These reports are important. I encourage people to go back and read the previous reports as they provide a chronological overview of both areas where improvements are needed and areas where real progress has been made.
The ultimate goal of publishing a human rights report in Georgia, if anywhere else, is to support Georgia's efforts to strengthen democracy and protect the rights of all citizens. We hope that the annual Human Rights Report will be seen as a useful resource to achieve this goal", Kelly Degnan said.
On March 20, the US State Department published a report on human rights, which also discusses Georgia.
