German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will visit Georgia today

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will visit Georgia on March 23-24, 2023. Meetings with Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Foreign Minister Ilya Darchiashvili are scheduled during the visit. The Minister will also meet with students, representatives of civil society and the opposition.

The program also includes a trip to the so-called administrative border with the separatist region of South Ossetia and a meeting with representatives of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM). Germany has sent the most employees to this mission.

The main topics of the meetings will be Germany's support for Georgia's rapprochement with the European Union and NATO, and the implementation of the necessary reforms for this. The purpose of the visit is to establish close and direct contacts between the two countries and deepen good cooperation for Georgia's European future.
